Robert Charles Tremblay

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Charles Tremblay, at the age of 89, on August 18, 2026, in Hearst, Ontario, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born on June 12, 1937, in La Sarre, Abitibi, Quebec, to his father, Hubald Tremblay, and his mother, Rosanna Pruneau.

He dedicated 43 years of his life to working as a lumberjack. He also had a deep love for farming, woodworking, and participating in lumberjack competitions, pursuits that reflected his strength, determination, and skill.

Above all, Robert – known to all as “Pitou” – was a devoted father, a loving brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, and a man whose humble and hardworking nature touched many lives. Family and friends admired him for being a genuine, kind, hardworking, and deeply loving person.

He is survived by his son, Mario, and daughter-in-law, Adriana, his sisters, Loraine (Tremblay) Veilleux and Lise (Tremblay) Boutet, and sister-in-law, Huguette Tremblay, along with his many nieces and nephews and other family and friends who will cherish his memory.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Foyer des Pionniers and all of its staff for the wonderful care, compassion, and kindness they showed Robert throughout his time there. We would also like to sincerely thank the staff at Hearst Notre Dame Hospital, who went above and beyond to care for Robert and ensure that he was comfortable and surrounded with dignity and compassion during his final days. We will always be grateful for the kindness and care they gave to our dad.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A mass will be held on Friday August 21 at 3:00 pm at Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Hearst.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous vous faisons part du décès de Robert Charles Tremblay, à l’âge de 89 ans, survenu le 18 août 2026, à Hearst, en Ontario, entouré de l’amour de sa famille.

Robert est né le 12 juin 1937, à La Sarre, Abitibi, Québec, fils de Hubald Tremblay et de Rosanna Pruneau.

Il a consacré 43 années de sa vie au métier de bûcheron. Il avait également une grande passion pour l’agriculture, la menuiserie et la participation à des compétitions de bûcherons, des passions qui reflétaient sa force, sa détermination et son habileté.

Avant tout, Robert – connu de tous sous le nom de « Pitou » – était un père dévoué, un frère, beau-frère et oncle aimant, et un homme dont la nature humble et travailleuse a touché bien des vies. Sa famille et ses amis l’admiraient pour sa gentillesse sincère, son travail acharné et son amour profond.

Il laisse dans le deuil son fils, Mario, et sa belle-fille, Adriana, ses sœurs, Loraine (Tremblay) Veilleux et Lise (Tremblay) Boutet, sa belle-sœur, Huguette Tremblay, ainsi que ses nombreuses nièces et neveux et autres parents et amis qui garderont son souvenir bien vivant.

La famille désire exprimer sa sincère reconnaissance au Foyer des Pionniers et à tout son personnel pour les bons soins, la compassion et la gentillesse envers Robert tout au long de son séjour. Nous tenons également à remercier du fond du cœur le personnel de l’Hôpital Notre-Dame de Hearst, qui a pris grand soin de Robert et veillé à son confort et à sa dignité durant ses derniers jours. Nous leur serons toujours reconnaissants pour leur bonté et les soins attentionnés qu’ils ont offerts à notre père.

Sa présence nous manquera profondément, mais son héritage d’amour, de travail et de dévouement envers sa famille vivra à jamais dans le cœur de tous ceux qui l’ont connu.

Une messe sera célébrée le vendredi 21 août à 15 h 00 à la Cathédrale de Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption à Hearst.
