Nécrologie de Gaetan Lemieux

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Gaetan Lemieux, of Mattice, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on September 5, 2026, at the age of 73.

Born on February 26, 1953, Gaetan was born and raised in Mattice, where he spent his entire life and built a strong connection to the community, he proudly called home. Well known by many, he was a familiar face throughout the community and will be remembered for his friendly presence, generosity, and willingness to help others.

Gaetan dedicated his entire working life to carpentry beginning his career alongside his father. Over the years, he took great pride in his work and became known for his talent and ability to build, create, and bring ideas to life. Whether it was for work or simply to help someone in need, Gaetan was always ready to lend his skills and a helping hand.

Above all, family was an important part to Gaetan 's life. He will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Louise Lemieux, and his three daughters, Linda Lemieux (Yves Morin), Angele Lemieux (Sylvain Veilleux), and Sandy Laurin (Stephane Laurin). He was a proud grandfather to Dominique Savoie (Crystal Lacroix), Danelle Savoie (Dave Meilleur), Jordan Lagrange, Mylene Savoie, and Michaela Grenier, and a cherished great-grandfather to Liam Savoie, Jaxon Savoie, Colton Savoie, and Celeste Meilleur.  He is also survived by his brother Gilles Lemieux (Denise Dumais), his sister Cristiane Lemieux (Luc Pominville), as well as his sister-in-law Donna Lemieux.

Outside of work, Gaetan found enjoyment in the simple things in life. He loved spending time in his garage, working on projects, and building things, as well as going fishing. He enjoyed going for coffee with "Bob" and spending time with his beloved little dog, Cocotte, who was never far from his side.

Gaetan was a proud and generous man who could always be counted on when someone needed a helping hand. He was also a true jokester, with a wonderful sense of humour and a natural ability to make those around him laugh. His laughter, his familiar presence, and the many little moments of joy he brought to others will remain fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Gaetan was predeceased by his parents, Gerard and Ida Lemieux, his infant sister Micheline Lemieux, and his brothers, Michel and Yvan Lemieux.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout the years. Though he is no longer with us, the memories of his kindness, humour, generosity, and the life he built in the community he loved will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Family and friends are welcomed on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Salle Gérard Lemieux, located at St. François Xavier Church in Mattice, a hall named in honour of his father.  Funeral will follow at the Saint-François-Xavier Church at 11 a.m. in Mattice with Father Hervé Sauvé officiating.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de M. Gaetan Lemieux, de Mattice, survenu paisiblement entouré de ses proches le 5 septembre 2026, à l’âge de 73 ans.
Né le 26 février 1953, Gaetan a grandi à Mattice, où il a passé toute sa vie et développé un profond attachement à cette communauté qu’il était fier d’appeler chez lui. Bien connu de plusieurs, il était une figure familière dans la communauté et restera dans les mémoires pour sa présence amicale, sa générosité et sa volonté d’aider les autres.
Gaetan a consacré toute sa vie professionnelle à la menuiserie, débutant sa carrière aux côtés de son père. Au fil des années, il était très fier de son travail et s’est fait connaître pour son talent et son habileté à construire, à créer et à donner vie à ses idées. Que ce soit dans le cadre de son travail ou simplement pour venir en aide à quelqu’un dans le besoin, Gaetan était toujours prêt à mettre ses compétences au service des autres et à leur prêter main-forte.
Par-dessus tout, la famille occupait une place importante dans la vie de Gaetan. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse bien-aimée, Louise Lemieux, ainsi que ses trois filles, Linda Lemieux (Yves Morin), Angèle Lemieux (Sylvain Veilleux) et Sandy Laurin (Stéphane Laurin). Il était un fier grand-père de Dominique Savoie (Crystal Lacroix), Danelle Savoie (Dave Meilleur), Jordan Lagrange, Mylène Savoie et Michaela Grenier, ainsi qu’un arrière-grand-père très aimé de Liam Savoie, Jaxon Savoie, Colton Savoie et Céleste Meilleur.  Il laisse également dans le deuil son frère Gilles Lemieux (Denise Dumay), sa soeur Cristiane Lemieux (Luc Pominville), de même que sa belle-soeur Donna Lemieux.
En dehors du travail, Gaetan aimait profiter des plaisirs simples de la vie. Il aimait passer du temps dans son garage à travailler sur différents projets et à construire toutes sortes de choses, ainsi qu’aller à la pêche. Il appréciait également prendre un café avec « Bob » et passer du temps avec sa petite chienne bien-aimée, Cocotte, qui n’était jamais bien loin de lui.
Gaetan était un homme fier et généreux sur qui l’on pouvait toujours compter lorsqu’un coup de main était nécessaire. Il était également un grand farceur, doté d’un merveilleux sens de l’humour et d’une facilité naturelle à faire rire les gens autour de lui. Son rire, sa présence familière et les nombreux petits moments de bonheur qu’il apportait aux autres resteront chers aux souvenirs de tous ceux qui l’ont connu.
Gaetan fut précédé dans la mort par ses parents, Gérard et Ida Lemieux, sa petite sœur décédée en bas âge Micheline Lemieux, ainsi que ses frères Michel et Yvan Lemieux.
Il manquera profondément à sa famille, à ses amis et aux nombreuses personnes dont il a touché la vie au fil des années. Bien qu’il ne soit plus parmi nous, les souvenirs de sa gentillesse, de son humour, de sa générosité et de la vie qu’il a bâtie au sein de la communauté qu’il aimait resteront à jamais gravés dans le cœur de ceux qui l’ont connu.
La famille accueillera parents et amis le samedi 3 octobre 2026, de 9 h à 11 h, à la salle Gérard-Lemieux, située à l’église Saint-François-Xavier de Mattice, une salle nommée en l’honneur de son père.  Les funérailles suivront à 11h en l'Église Saint-François-Xavier de Mattice avec le Père Hervé Sauvé comme célébrant.
Offrir vos condoléances
