Votre gentillesse apaise notre tristesse.

We regret to announce the death of Mr. Gérard Gagné on Thursday, April 8th, 2021 at the age of 88.  He will be missed by 2 daughters: Mona (Brian) from Guelph and Cathy (Bruce) from Hearst as well as 2 grandsons: Michael and Samuel.  He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (2015) as well as his brothers and sisters.

We remember Gérard as a quiet, hard working, simple man.  He was a handyman who could repair anything and when he was in better health, he would always have something to do.  A real jack of all trades.  He loved the comfort of his home and never wanted disturb the people around him.

He was born in Saint-Hubert, Québec in 1932 and settled into the area, all by himself at the young age of 20.  He was a lumberjack and started his career in forestry for the Newago, Selin and later on, for Fontaine Sawmill which is now Rayonier Advance Materials.  He enjoyed retirement for the last 25 years.

At the dawn of his 89th year, Gérard had travelled a long road and the last years of his life was more difficult due to old age and fatigue.  A well deserved rest for a life well lived.

A donation in his memory can be made to the Notre-Dame Hospital Foundation in Hearst or an organization of your choice.  To make a donation to the Notre-Dame Hospital Foundation, click here.

We are sincerely grateful to the Red-Cross staff, the Aging at Home staff as well as all other organizations who cared for and supported our father before his hospitalization.  Thanks to your services, you gave us peace of mind and gave him the chance to stay a little longer in his home of the last 50 years.  We are truly blessed to have angels like yourselves to help and support the seniors in our community.  Outstanding work!

We would like to sincerely thank the Notre-Dame Hospital staff for the excellent care given to our father while he was under their care.  We are forever grateful for the respect, patience and sensitivity in his regard.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  We appreciate your kindness.
