Nécrologie de Candide Duguay

Nous avons le regret de vous annoncer le décès de Mme Candide Duguay (née Fortin) à l’âge de 90 ans, survenu le 3 décembre 2023 au foyer Extendicare à Timmins. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses deux filles Lina Duguay (feu Patrick England) d’Ottawa et Elaine Krcel (Karl Krcel) de Porcupine, ainsi que ses deux petits-enfants, Danielle (Jeff) et Jessica (Cody) tous deux de Timmins, ses deux soeurs Suzanne Fortin et Cécile Fortin (Thérèse) de Métabetchouan, et un frère Georges Fortin (Danielle) de Métabetchouan. Elle laisse également dans le deuil un beau-frère Rodrigue Chamberland et une belle-soeur Micheline Fortin, ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.

Elle fut précédée dans la mort par son mari René Duguay, ses parents Thomas-Louis Fortin et Simone Fortin (née Côté), son frère Charles (Micheline) et ses soeurs Céline, Monique (feu Robert), Angéline, Andrée (Rodrigue), Marie-Paule et Lise.

On se souvient de Candide comme une femme forte et sociable, une mère, une grand-mère, une soeur et une amie aimante, dévouée et attentive. Elle se souciait toujours du bien-être des siens. Son sourire, sa tendresse, son grand coeur, et son amour inébranlable pour son mari et sa famille resteront à jamais gravé dans nos mémoires.

Toujours généreuse de son temps, Candide a été impliquée dans plusieurs organismes bénévoles à Hearst (Auxiliaires de l’hôpital, Filles d’Isabelle, la soupe communautaire, décors à la Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption, etc.). Candide adorait le camping, la chasse et la pêche. Elle aimait le jardinage, la lecture, la couture, le tricot, la marche, le bowling, sortir aux cafés avec ses amies, et jouer aux cartes et au Yatzee.

Avant la retraite elle a travaillé pendant plusieurs années à l’Hôpital Notre-Dame, à l’École St-Louis ainsi qu’à à l’Évêché de Hearst.

Une cérémonie en la mémoire de Candide aura lieu au Cimetière Monseigneur Pierre Grenier à Hearst à une date ultérieure.

We regret to announce the death of Mrs. Candide Duguay (born Fortin) at the age of 90, on December 3rd, 2023 at the Timmins Extendicare Nursing Home.  She is survived by her 2 daughters; Lina Duguay (Late Patrick England) of Ottawa and Elaine Krcel (Karl Krcel) from Porcupine, as well as her 2 grandchildren; Danielle (Jeff) and Jessica (Cody), all from Timmins.  She also leaves behind her 2 sisters; Suzanne Fortin and Cécile Fortin (Thérèse) from Métabetchouan and her brother Georges Fortin (Danielle) from Métabetchouan.  She leaves wonderful memories in the heart of her brother-in-law Rodrigue Chamberland and her sister-in-law Micheline Fortin, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband René Duguay, her parents; Thomas-Louis Fortin and Simone Fortin (born Côté), her brother Charles (Micheline) and her sisters; Céline, Monique (Late Robert), Angéline, Andrée (Rodrigue), Marie-Paule and Lise.

We remember Candide as a sociable and strong lady.  A loving, devoted and attentive mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She always cared for the well being of her loved ones.  Her smile, tenderness, her kind heart and her unconditional love for her husband and her family will forever be remembered and cherished in our memory.

Always available and generous of her time, Candide was involved in many charitable organizations in Hearst (the Notre-Dame Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, the Soup Kitchen and she helped decorate the Notre-Dame Cathedral, as well as many others.)  Candide loved the outdoors, camping and fishing.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, knitting, walking, bowling, going out for coffee with friends, playing cards and Yatzee.

Before a well-deserved retirement, she worked for many years at the Notre-Dame Hospital in Hearst, the St-Louis School and the Hearst Diocese.

A ceremony at the Hearst Mgr. Grenier Cemetery will be held at a later date.
