Gladys Gillis (Louttit )

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our dearest Gladys Agnes Gillis (Louttit) at the age of 75 years old.
She is survived by her husband ( Steven Gillis) and children; Warren Atkinson of Nanaimo BC, Charles Atkinson of Kitchener, ON, Liz Atkinson of Toronto, ON, and Matthew Gillis of Hearst, ON. Her younger sisters Donna Stephens (Louttit) , Edith Moore (Louttit) and many nieces and nephews.


She was predeceased in death by her parents Sidney & Jane Louttit, her father-in law John Gillis. Sr, and her son Luke Gillis (Lukey). Also, her brother Robert Louttit. Sr, and sister Margaret Achneepineskum (Louttit). She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Gladys had a big heart and always loved to help those in need, she was a very generous person with a great sense of humour. She loved her dog Bronson dearly, loved cooking and spending her time with family and friends. Gladys was known for her one of a kind nickname, “ Auntie Doo” by her family & friends. Gladys was employed in Constance Lake First Nation as a cook for the daycare, and a Personal Support Worker for many years. Her last employment before retiring was at Villeneuve Construction and the Nishnawbe Aski- Police Service. Gladys was known to be a very hard and dedicated worker. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 29 at 1 PM at the St. Matthews & St. Paul's Anglican Church at 906 Alexandra Street in Hearst.  Burial to follow on same day at the Riverside Cemetery in Hearst.
